end of summer in the 852

South Bay Beach (craving those french fries! and the quiet of this tucked-away bay)
Another summer wraps up in Hong Kong... a few days on empty beaches before the crowds return. Sweltering hot days intermingled with crazy rainstorms.  Unscheduled days being mom to these incredible three.

Having not one but TWO (actually, three) beaches easily accessible within minutes from our house - we have our pick. Convincing my kids that sand and surf could be more fun than the neighbor's swimming pool or another round of fighting over L.O.L. dolls is another thing entirely. But win I did - at least a couple of times. ;)

Around the house, we found plenty to do. Home is where the heart goes ...

This recipe thanks to the show Just Add Magic - brain-boosting bolognese! Addie's request for the day.

might as well put these chefs to work sorting the expired spices!

We celebrated Daddy's birthday on a super-stormy-monsoon day by heading to the aquarium!

Not yet ready to let go of summer... we squeezed in doctor & dentist appointments, haircuts, car renewal, and a few fun things.

This beautiful space is at Maggie & Rose - the family club we are members of - situated on the top floor of the building at Repulse Bay beach.

Movie theater time!! What a good one.
... and time with dear friends. They're back! Our friends are back in HK! The buzz of people again returns to our campus and our city as everyone comes home from summers away.

We knew school was just around the corner when Addie attended Vacation Bible School and mom got her classroom ready. (Teacher kids unite at VBS while all the teachers get back to work in early August.)

We are bound to get more squally, rainy days in the next few months as summer turns to fall around here and the regular typhoons roll through. The turning of the season has a special feel, doesn't it?
